A Visit to Liberia

Dr Tom works at a university in London. He is 40 years old and he likes travelling. This year he decided to go to Africa. He wanted to see how students learn at schools in Africa. Before he travelled to Liberia, he saw his doctor. The doctor gave him some injections. The doctor told him to be careful when he travelled there because there are many diseases there.

Dr Tom visited some schools in Liberia. He was shocked to see that the students were very poor. They didn't have any computers at their schools. They didn't have any CD players to help them learn. They didn't have any DVD players to use at school.

Liberia is a very poor country in the West of Africa. It had two civil wars that ended in 2003. Hundreds of thousands of people died during the civil wars. Schools were destroyed. Now there is no war but the prople are very poor.

The students walk to school every day because they don't have cars. They go to school because they want to learn.

Dr Tom decided to help the students by buying computers for the schools he visited. He wants the students to have a chance to learn. He will collect money from his family and friends and sent it to the schools to buy what they want.

Fill in the gaps:
war - any - saw - the - old - schools - ended - many
