Tamara

My name is Tamara. I come from Russia. I am 20 years old and I live in Melbourne, Australia. I live in a small house with my family. My father is a doctor. He is 55 years old. He works at the Alfred hospital in Melbourne.  My mother is 50 years old. She works as a teacher. I don’t have any brothers or sisters. I am an only child.

I came to Australia with my family 6 years ago. When I came here, I didn’t speak good English. I went to a language school and started learning English. I was lucky because I had very good teachers. I started to learn how to read and write. I improved my English in a very short time.

After that I went to a high school in Footscray. I studied with many students who were born in Australia. At first it was not easy. It was difficult for me. But after a few weeks, every thing was all right.
I started to learn about Australia. I started to take the bus alone. I started to love Australia more. I started to have many friends and I started taking tennis lessons with some of them.

Now I am a student at Melbourne University. I am studying to be a nurse. I want to work at a hospital and help sick people. When I get a job, I want to buy a car. I want to travel by car and see more of Australia.
